Slumdog Millionaire

Just got back from it today and I loved it. I have not yet seen The Wrestler or Let The Right One In but so far it was my favorite movie of 2008. I loved the score and the movie is just visually stunning.

Kicking and Screaming (The Noah Baumbach one)

Kicking and Screaming is a movie about 4 kids fresh out of college who really don’t want to move onto a normal life. So they buy a house near campus and decide not to do shit.

The movie is very funny which is no suprise since Noah Baumbach (The Squid and The Whale, Margot At The Wedding) wrote it. One of the major themes of his movies are smart people doing awkward/asshole-ish things. And this is the one that started it all. Well this review sucked.

Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills

This documentary is basically about these 3 kids who were accused, (I won’t tell you what happened just in case someone reads this and wants to watch it.) for the murder of 3 even younger kids. Some think that the town needed a scapegoat and these kids listened Metalica and wore black so they must have done it.

The story then starts to unfold as they find more evidence and learn more about these kids. I wasn’t into the movie but I can tell why most people are. I also like that it really asks you to make up your own mind at the end.

Batman Begins (Rewatch)

I rented this again because The Dark Knight is out in like a week and a half and I wanted a recap. The movie is pretty good dispite having a weak 3rd act and Chris Nolan not being able to direct a fight scene to save his life.

The fight scene can only be described as Nolan taking the camera, zooming in on whatever fighting in happening and then when he is done filming, in the editing room he decides to cut to another angle every 5 seconds. It feels like I am watching Dark City or an MTV show.
